Here from one of our fundraisers?
We raise funds to support partners delivering emergency equipment, resettlement, mental health, animal welfare, and disease research.
Prevention is as critical as treatment. This also applies to crisis hot spots preventing a lack of medical supplies to stop blood loss, reconnaissance to avoid a conflict, or intercepting incoming ordnance.
In Ukraine, disruption of infrastructure and casualties continues in civilian and frontline areas. Many of these casualties are preventable without shortages in medical supplies and protective equipment, owing to the scale of the conflict. Together with other Australian donors we've supported United Aid and Logistics mitigate casualties in Ukraine.
These donations cover gaps in supplies of:
Individual First Aid Kits (IFAKs): Personal trauma kits designed for immediate, point-of-injury care to stop severe bleeding and chest wounds
X-ray equipment: Consumables for rapid imaging of bone fractures, joint dislocations, chest trauma, and foreign objects that assist injury assessment and treatment
Drone detection and interception: Equipment to identify and disrupt incoming attacks
Funds raised will support medical equipment and drone interception measures to medical stablisation points. All proceeds past platform fees go to the cause. Donations are tax deductible in Australia and other countries depending on your local tax laws.
Conflicts around the world leave many individuals at risk of persecution. No One Left Behind provides emergency assistance for housing, food, and other essentials for at-risk special immigrant visa recipients abroad, and resettlement support for the newly arrived as they begin new lives in the United States. It has provided thousands with case support and sustainment services in third countries as they await travel. Resources are needed to provide a growing number of allies with case support, humanitarian aid, and resettlement assistance.
At least one in six individuals live with a disability, while 40% of individuals from adolescence and older have experienced a mental disorder at some point in life. Equine therapy allows participants to participate in grooming, feeding, leading and riding horses. This enhances the quality of life of disabled people as horse riding can stimulate cognitive ability. The shift in perception, cognition and physical activity engaging with animals has tremendous emotional benefit. Equine therapy is used to help people rebuild their lives from substance abuse disorders, support physical, occupational and speech therapy, and mental health conditions including depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, ADHD, autism and more.
We support the welfare of therapeutic mental health animals, in particular Riding for the Disabled, to provide food and infrastructure to support horses. Find out more about equine therapy in Australia here.
Donating to this cause will support food and maintenance bills for horses and the patients they support.
Researchers are uncovering the genetic and environmental factor basis to human cellular degeneration in disease and aging. While most of the 37 trillion cells in our bodies are constantly turning over within our organs, within each cell, 46 bundles of DNA (chromosomes), are constantly being manufactured, damaged, or repaired.
Genetic damage can occur at single positions or stretches of DNA that encode RNA, ultimately disrupting the structure or function of proteins that serve any cellular process. Damage can also occur at the epigenetic level, with chemical modifications that control what genes are expressed.
Environmental genetic and cellular damage sources can include exposure to airborne particles, pollution, plastic or wood particles, heavy metal or microbial toxins, UV exposure from sunlight, but also carcinogens in cigarettes, vaping, alcohol, as well as obesity or starvation
It isn't possible to control what genes we're born with, but we can reduce the risk and progression of disease with a healthy lifestyle of a balanced diet, exercise, avoiding exposure to alcohol, smoking, sunlight and other environmental toxicity factors.
